Foundations Partner

In 2023, the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation and the CHU Dumont Foundation joined forces to establish the NB Ride Against Cancer. Our commitment to raise funds to benefit cancer patients at both local hospitals began by building on our respective cycling-based fundraisers – NB Doctors Cycling Against Cancer and the Tour of Hope.

The Friends Foundation’s NB Doctors Cycling Against Cancer raised more than $650,000 during its 9 years for cancer care initiatives at the Dr. Sheldon H. Rubin Oncology Clinic and the inpatient oncology unit at The Moncton Hospital. What started with 9 participants, cycling 500 kilometers around the province in 2015, transitioned to solo cycling in 2020 and grew to 47 participants including 7 teams in 2022.

The CHU Dumont Foundation’s Tour of Hope started in 2011 with 38 cyclists. In 2019, 150 cyclists cycled more than 675 kms over 4 days. In 2020, the Tour pivoted to solo cycling and this format continued until 2022. More than $1.8 million was raised over 11 years for the Tree of Hope, the Foundation’s annual campaign aimed at increasing comfort and care for cancer patients at the Dr.-Léon-Richard Oncology Centre and in other Dumont UHC departments offering a continuum in oncology care, for example, the Mgr.-Henri-Cormier Lodge.
